The Dragon Reborn Chapters 53-56

  Chapter 53 Book 3

Rand is comfirmed to be in Tear by the sideffects following him.

Fail gets victim one of the stolen tangreals. The trap was ment to be for Moiraine, now there's a chance to solve it. Fail is in the Dreamworld.

Chapter 54 Book 3

Matt plans to climb in the fortress of the sword (to rescue the Scooby Gang), spots Rand already executing the idea. Bumps into some aiels. And the hunter.
The hunter goes to the prisoners' gate, the aiels climb in, Matt blows a hole on the wall. This is why you don't introduce technology to a magic setting: technology wins every time.
Aside that, arise the question: how did Tear plan to defend their place against magic (magic is banned in the city)?

So everyone is in, and my very reasonable question is: what was the plan? We don't see a chiseled defense-system, only a handful of guards. But the scene is still mindless fun, so whatever.

The black ajah lacked basic prisoner protocol (take away their stuff), so Egwenne goes Dreamland.

Chapter 55 Book 3

Rand encounters Be'lal at the Inner Sanctum, and refuses to take the magic sword, to prevent the darklings getting from his corpse. Rand creates a Flaming Sword, and almost looses, but then Moiraine appears, and lasers the heck out of 'im.

Forsakens:
1 Semirhage
2 Lanfear
3 Ishamael, the betrayer of hope (Elan Morin Tedornain)
4 Aginor <--- (dead)
5 Balthamel <--- (dead)
6 Demandred
7 Luc
8 Isam
9 Sammael <--- (Illian)
10 Asmodean
11 Be'lal <--- (dead)
12 Ravhin
13 (dead)

"Balzamon" appears (yet again), and some anime-fight breaks out. On screen I'd suggest the style of Natural Born Killers' animated sequences. THAT film was genious (theatrical cut, NOT the director's cut!).

Matt finds the Scooby Gang and unlocks their locks. Egwenne already disabled the blak sedai before the door from the Dreamland. They kick the black sedai unconscious, so they can cast spells again.

Perrin plays Inception, but in the end goes deep enough to crack the spell on Fail.

Rand wins, and finds a corpse at his feat. that means a SECOND dead Forsaken in this volume. Whoever it was (next chapter Moiraine explicitely states it was not Mr. Satan, thus must be a Forsaken's body).

Chapter 56 Book 3

Everyone hails Rand as the Dragon Reborn, ruler of Tear, wielder of Callandor.

There is a Seal here, unbroken. RJ though seems to have forgotten, no Seal was found by the party in Book 2. One was broken in Book 1, and two unbroken were in possession of the nazis.
Though now RJ says 3 are broken. And Moiraine has 1 unbroken.

We can't go out without more Dune-ripoff. Matt estimates the fremens to be a couple hundred, but ye, we know they are a zillion.
And there is the whole "Muad Dib must do the special ritual" - either drinking the bene geserit juice, or riding a worm - worms are in the Blight, and this time it'll be visiting the sacred city of Rhuidean, but still the same wibe. Point is, this was actualy HALF of this volume, the story goes into the next book, we know at least half of its content just from this part. Ripoff work really inconvenient, don't you think? THAT'S WHY YOU DON'T DO THAT.

Forsakens:
1 Semirhage
2 Lanfear
3 Ishamael, the betrayer of hope (Elan Morin Tedornain) <--- (dead*)
4 Aginor <--- (dead)
5 Balthamel <--- (dead)
6 Demandred
7 Luc
8 Isam
9 Sammael <--- (Illian)
10 Asmodean
11 Be'lal <--- (dead)
12 Ravhin
13 (dead)
<--- (Caemlyn)
*one of them is dead for sure, might be another

PS: the closing scribe-notes says "the LEGENDS of the Dragon". This might indicate, if I am generous, that the 4th age comes AFTER the 3rd age.
Would really appreciate a calendar....
